Job Description
Sitting between the customer & product team, the candidate has the unique opportunity to drive customer satisfaction and business impact. The role will work closely with the customer success manager and be involved in pre-sale, onboarding, and post-onboarding, and focus the majority of the time on identifying any gaps. Also, the candidate will own the tools for the sales and customer team to onboard and assist customers.
We are a hybrid-friendly company and this position can also be fully remote, or in-person in NYC, LA or Taipei.

Shypyard mission is to empower entrepreneurs with the right tools to grow their business. Founded by former Facebook and LinkedIn alum, our first product helps modern merchants and brands automate their business planning and free themselves from Excel. Our solutions unlock time and resources for merchants to do the things they love, whether that’s bring cool products to market, building a brand or growing their customer base.
We recently raised our first institutional round backed by top VCs, led by Gradient Ventures, Google’s AI fund, with backing from industry leaders in eCommerce including Shopify and BigCommerce.
Ultimately, our vision is to connect the entire ecosystem of suppliers, logistics companies, distributors and merchants into commerce graph and a unified platform generating intelligent recommendations. By doing so, we can transform the global commerce ecosystem to become more transparent, trustworthy and efficient.
Co-Founders’ Background
Dan and Sam co-founded Shypyard in 2021 with the mission to empower entrepreneurs with the right tools to achieve their dreams. While selling on Shopify, they personally experienced the daily operational and business challenges many entrepreneurs face, so they decided to build Shypyard to solve this problem.
They first met at Facebook. Sam grew up in Taiwan, worked at Facebook Marketplace team as a senior engineer, and later created one of the most popular Shopify sizing apps (Kiwi Sizing) with over 14k active merchants. Dan is from Canada and subsequently worked at LinkedIn as a senior product manager, building recommendation products that were responsible for millions of people finding jobs through LinkedIn.
How is it like working with us?
Focus on Impact: As an early hire, you will have the opportunity to work closely with the founders, designers and PMs to shape the product and work on challenging technical problems. What we care most about is delivering real value to the customer by listening to customer feedbacks and constantly iterating on the product.
Moving fast: We are a fully distributed team between the US and Taiwan. As a small team, we work very closely and move quickly on product decisions and developments. We are looking for folks who want to be constantly challenged in a fast-moving environment.
Communicate Transparently and openly: We strongly believe in transparency, and we communicate over Slack, Notion, and Tandem with any product direction or decision we make. We are also open to discussions regarding any product decisions.
Working autonomously: you will be given full autonomy and trust on running your projects end-to-end, while still communicating early and frequently with other team members to stay aligned on the project goals and implementations.
What would you be doing?
Deeply understand the Shypyard platform and underlying implementation to answer any customer questions or troubleshoot partner issues
Involved in the customer onboarding process to identify any technical feature gap. Work closely with the customer success manager & Sales to estimate onboarding time & effort
Manage partners’ bugs, requirements and feature requests with Product and Engineering
Work closely with the customer success manager to build tools to improve onboarding efficiency
Potentially be involved with building product features requested by partners
Build & maintain integration connectors. Need to have a deep understanding of Shypyard system and able to quickly understand API documentations.
What are we looking for?
2+ year experience with software engineer experience
Want to do more than just writing code
Excellent communication skills (English Speaking/Reading/Writing skills are required)
Experienced with backend technologies like nodejS and building integrations with 3rd party services
Scrappy, startup mentality. Comfortable with rolling up sleeves to execute imperfect experiments to test hypothesis quickly, then failing and iterating
Open-minded and willing to learn new things and grow as an engineer
Highly motivated individuals who can excel in a remote working environment
